New Software for Metz Flashguns

For the first time: wireless use with Canon and without additional master flash

The multifaceted Metz system and SCA flashguns have received new software updates for additional current camera models from Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax and Leica. With it, the mecablitz 58 AF01 digital, the mecablitz 48 AF-1 digital and the Macroblitz 15 MS-1 digital can be used together with Canon, and without an additional master flash. With the EOS 7D, the integrated flashgun can also be used as a transmitter, so that the external Metz flashguns can be controlled wirelessly.

Interplay with Internal Remote Systems

The Metz flashguns work directly with the internal remote systems of the cameras and can thus be flexibly used with almost all popular camera models from a great variety of manufacturers without restriction. Furthermore, some Metz flashguns even offer functions that go beyond the functionality of the original accessory. The mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital, for example, is equipped with an innovative secondary reflector and an integrated interface for USB updates.

Updates for Canon, Sony, Panasonic and Leica

Because of the new updates, the Canon PowerShop G11 and SX 20 IS are fully compatible in addition to the Canon EOS 7D. Even the Sony Alpha models 850, 550, and 500 are included in the new software versions. In addition, this interplay has been working with the Panasonic Lumix GF-1, Pentax K-x and the Leica M9 since the end of November.

Flashgun recommendations and SCA adapter search for more information

Those interested can find information on the new updates at any time on the homepage www.metz.de. Clicking "Flashgun Recommendations" in the menu now gives users of the Metz homepage the possibility of seeing which flashguns are compatible with which SLR camera model. In addition, the “SCA Adapter Search” menu option can be used to retrieve extensive information on the compatibility of the individual functions of the Metz SCA flashguns to the individual camera models.

Service and tradition "Made in Germany"

Metz has remained loyal to Germany as its base for the development and production of flashguns for more than 57 years. The Metz products range from the extraordinarily powerful mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital system and professional hand-held flashguns, through to slave flashguns like the innovative mecablitz 15 MS-1 digital macro flash system. As the world's only full-range supplier in the flashgun sector, this long-established company offers high-quality products "Made in Germany".
