3D technology

Cinema-style film viewing: Innovative 3D technology from Metz provides an exceptionally realistic television experience. Metz achieves this by means of circular polarization: a wafer-thin film on the LCD screen and the Metz passive 3D glasses combine to create impressive spatial depth – without any annoying flicker effects or restrictions of the field of vision if the viewer turns his or her head. Even conventional films can be watched in 3D. Two touches of a button are all it takes for the Metz LCD TV to convert a 2D film into 3D. The feather-light Metz 3D glasses guarantee maximum comfort.

mecavisionHD+
First-class picture quality

Sharper images, brilliant colours, smooth motion sequences, perfect contrast: mecavisionHD+, the LCD technology developed by Metz, ensures outstanding picture quality – and is eye-friendly too. Even with high-resolution HDTV signals, perfect motion compensation is possible. This enables even complex images, such as tickers, elaborate patterns or colour edges to be reproduced in detail. To provide a first-class viewing experience, Metz televisions also feature dynamic backlighting, LUX automatic contrast control, dynamic image clarity optimisation, 3D comb filters, in-plane switching (IPS), dynamic noise reduction, CTI and other image-enhancing technologies.

A further advantage: Using HDMI, Metz televisions enable films (e.g. in Blu-ray format) to be shown in the original version at 24 pictures per second – exactly the same picture frequency as that used to record and store films and show them in the cinema.

Optimised motion display

Excellent image sharpness even during high-motion scenes: the 100-hertz technology doubles the frame rate shown by Metz televisions. Combined with dynamic motion compensation (DMC), which adds algorithmically calculated intermediate images, the result is optimised motion display with even greater overall fluency.

200 Hz technology

By combining the tried-and-tested technology of dynamic motion compensation with LED backlight technology, Metz is able to achieve a new level of motion optimisation. On the one hand, the DMC chip calculates additional motion sequences. On the other, the LED backlight is switched among four different lighting zones. This so-called scanning backlighting considerably improves the viewer’s perception of motion sequences.

Hard disk recorder

Viewing pleasure independent of the regular schedule. With the Metz hard disk recorder you can be your own programme director – and operation is child’s play. You need never miss your favourite show again and you can watch your favourite film as often as you like. The simultaneous recording function which is unique on the television market also allows you to record two programmes while watching another on a different channel***. With the timeshift function, you can pause and resume live TV whenever you feel like it and there is a storage capacity of either 500 GB or 750 GB, depending on the device. The 500 GB memory holds up to 100 hours of HD-quality video or 500 hours of conventional SD-quality video, while the 750 GB memory allows you to record up to 125 hours of HD-quality video or 750 hours in SD-quality.

USB-Recording

With the USB recording function you can record TV programmes onto an external USB storage medium and play them back whenever you like. Programming is done via the integrated electronic programme guide (EPG).

Metz Media System*

One television, many new possibilities

Metz turns your television into a multimedia centre. The integrated Metz Media System makes it simple to play videos and music, and display photos through your television. Your Metz LCD TV “fetches” the digital data, for example from your PC, network, digital camera, smartphone or tablet PC, thus allowing you to set up a multimedia network in your home and conveniently control it using your Metz remote control. The Metz Media System also gives you access to Internet radio and numerous online services with the new television standard HbbTV. While watching a live TV programme you can retrieve additional information via a DSL Internet connection – or watch programmes you’ve missed via the broadcasters’ media libraries and access additional content from TV broadcasters. Many new and interesting possibilities are opened up in conjunction with the digital HbbTV teletext and the electronic programme guide (EPG).

Videos

From holiday videos to feature films: with the Metz Media System you can stream videos, e. g. from the hard drive on your notebook, directly to your television.

Music

Turn your television into a hi-fi system: with the Metz Media System you can listen to digital music files on your LCD TV – and create your own playlists.

Photos

Treat your holiday photos to a big screen performance. Thanks to the Metz Media System, viewing your photos on your television screen using the convenient slide show function is not a problem – this can be done from a digital camera, a USB device, your PC or any other device in your network.

USB

From photos to videos or music: with the Metz Media System you can transfer files directly from a USB memory stick to your television – and run them via the Media Player.

Local area network

Computer

HbbTV

Make use of online services via HbbTV (access via the red star button on the remote control – red button function). With the Metz Media System it is possible, for example, to display information on current programme schedules or to retrieve programmes from TV media libraries – you can also record programmes via the HbbTV EPG.

Internet radio

In addition to the integrated DVB radio function, Metz devices with Metz Media System now also provide access to an Internet radio function. Televisions connected to the Internet via the home network can directly establish a connection to TuneIn’s web radio service, which provides a huge range of radio stations and streamed content. It goes without saying that the Metz television screen can be deactivated for this.

With a selection of over 50,000 radio stations, there is something to suit every taste, from small, local broadcasters to large, international radio stations. Use the search function to find your favourite station or discover new musical experiences, using the music genre search function.

The smartphone as a remote for television and the home network

Metz mecaControl provides all the functions of the convenient Metz RM17 remote control in various, easy-to-read display views. That means that the application combines all the benefits of a remote control with the additional advantages of modern iOS and Android smartphones. For example, the app offers an input field for free text entry. This allows words or individual letters to be entered using the normal smartphone keyboard. Furthermore, if this application is supported by the smartphone, the current TV programme can be switched into timeshift mode by laying the smartphone face-down on any surface. The smartphone can then later be used to resume viewing of the programme right where it was paused. In swipe mode, it is also possible to change the channel with just an upward or downward swipe of the smartphone or tablet display, and swiping to the left or right allows the volume of the television to be adjusted.

The smartphone as control centre of the home network

Metz mecaControl is more than just a remote – it also has numerous other control functions. By simply touching the app’s selection menu, video, audio and picture files from all connected storage media in the home network (e.g. NAS drive, notebook, desktop computer) can be played on any playback device in the network. Several Metz televisions in the network may also be connected and individually selected using the Metz mecaControl.

Direct access to iMediaShare

Numerous Internet services can also be accessed using the Metz mecaControl. This makes the entire content of the iMediaShare personal TV app available to the user, along with services such as YouTube and Bild.de amongst others, using either a smartphone or tablet – or the Metz television. The transmission of information, videos, music and pictures takes place within the home network with just a few touches of the display.

Play recordings on any Metz television

Thanks to a new network function, Metz televisions are now also being promoted to digital media servers. This allows recordings made on a Metz television with an integrated digital recorder to be played back on other Metz televisions in the home network too, without these recordings themselves having been archived in the internal memory.

The Metz mecaControl control app will be available from the final quarter of 2012. Current Metz televisions can use this app by running software updates. Your Metz specialist dealer will be happy to provide further details.
